A website is passive by nature, so it often makes sense to create ways to get information to your visitors in a more active way, and to use active methods to drive traffic to your website. To that end we’ve developed e-mail newsletters for several of our clients. These range from a weekly digest of news stories that we e-mail out to over 20,000 members for one client, to a completely web-based system that allows another one of our clients to send out a fully-formatted e-mail without having to contact us.
Most importantly, with our system the membership lists are kept security on servers in Canada. Every single online e-mail newsletter service we've looked at stores client information on multiple servers, and always in the USA. For our clients, this is unacceptable due to the lack of privacy that comes along with storing data on US-based servers. Under the Patriot Act, government agencies can compell ISPs to pass over membership lists without even alerting the client. We will never store our clients membership lists outside of BC.
