Our key strength is in helping organizations convey important news and information to their members and to key stakeholders including the general public. The web sites we have developed for our clients all focus on relaying information quickly, cleanly and effectively. When we build a website the first thing we do is to determine the communications objective of the site. Based on the communications objective, we develop a content architecture, and determine sections for the website. At that point, we start working on design. This process guarantees that the design serves the objectives, rather than the other way around.
Our websites not only look great, but they work great as well. We’ll only use a new web technology when it passes three tests:
- Does it deliver a significant advantage for our users?
- Do an overwhelming majority of users have systems that support this technology?
- If the user’s computer doesn’t support the technology, will it cause them be locked out of the site?
We’ll never use a new technology just because we think it seems cool.
Finally our design is not only clean and well organized, but fast. We always have an eye to making sure that graphics are optimized for speed, and that pages don’t suffer from content overload. We’ve also partnered with a hosting company that shares this philosophy. Although not the cheapest, they don’t overload their servers like the vast majority of discount hosting companies. This means more responsive websites and superior reliability.
Flexible architecture
We always develop custom solutions so we can always have the ability to change the architecture to accommodate changed needs. One of our recent projects was to re-design a site which was custom-designed by a group which used non-standard metaphors in a sad and failed attempt to capture work in perpetuity. Our re-do of that site’s structure has the necessary portability and flexibility built in to the base.
